It's Been a Long Time-- Here is What We Have Been Doing!!!

Wow! It has been a while since the last time I have written my blog. We have been on an adventure these past few months. We have traveled back to the states to speak at a few churches, meet up with a few supporters, and most of all drop our oldest son Messiah off at college. Now, we are back in Roatan, Honduras doing what God has called us to do.

First, I would like to talk about our trip to the states. It first started out with taking a tour of Messiah's college. He is going to Dallas Baptist University to study Music Business. I was so amazed at seeing my oldest son is now going to college and that he will not be coming back to Honduras with us. I am so proud of him and hope that he will do and accomplish all that God has in store for him.

Second, I would like to talk about is the Celebrate Recovery conference that we went to while we were in Texas. We had no clue that it was going to be in Texas and we thought we were not going to be able to go to it. Usually, it is in Tennessee or California, but they decided this year they would do one huge one in Texas and it so happened to be next door to the university that Messiah was going to be going to. The conference was huge and awesome. We learned so much more and the love of CR has really dug deep into our hearts. We were able to pick up a lot more CR curriculum for the people back in Honduras. I am so glad that CR changed my life and that God has chosen my wife and I to take it to Honduras.

Thirdly, we went to Illinois to visit with Lorenda's family. We had a great time there and we were also able to speak a little at the church that we got saved in. We also had the opportunity to meet with a few of our supporters while we were there.

Fourth, we went to Georgia to see my family and speak at a few churches. We are so thankful for the people and the churches that have decided to support us and to help with the recovery of the people on the island of Roatan. So many people are turning their lives around for the kingdom work of God. While we were in Georgia we were able to make a few trips over to our sending church in Alabama. We had an opportunity to speak there and let the people know the need for recovery on the island where we are located.

Fifth, we went back to Texas to drop Messiah off. We stayed there in Dallas for about a week so that he could get acclimated to being in college. He was having so much fun and he has also made so many new friends. Again, I am so proud of him and his accomplishments that he has made. Keep up the good work son!

Now, we are back in Roatan, Honduras. We were so excited to get right back into serving. Once we got back I started teaching at the rehab right away and after two teachings the rehab got shut down due to Covid. They were shut down for three weeks and this week was opened back up for me to go back there and teach. I love teaching these men and women and inspiring them to do better and to understand the will of their Father (God). When I go there and teach, I feel a great sense of peace come over me that I have never felt before. It feels as if I am at home with these men and women. I always tell them that they are my family and I love them. They love to know that I care about them because they have been shunned down at most of their lives as nobody's and nothings. I love to call them my brother or sister in Christ.

We have also connected with a Spanish church here on the island. I have become real good friends with the pastor of the church. He was able to bring a bus load of his church to our house and do a baptism on the beach. Eight people got baptized. He had a full church service on the beach and then the eight got baptized. God is on the move here in Roatan.

When we got back we were so ready to start back our large group for Celebrate Recovery. Well, the turn out did not happen as we thought it would have. We thought it was going to pick up right back where we left it and that was not the case. We have decided to stop the large group for now and I will run a step study for men and Lorenda will run one for the women. We feel we need to have a core team of individuals that will truly help this program take off. We don't want this to be Tyler and Lorenda's ministry, we want it to be the ministry of the island that the people can call theirs. I think this is something that we need to do in order for us to get some strong leaders in CR. We will then, later, open back up the large group. Celebrate Recovery is not an easy program to run. Here it is very difficult to get people to talk about their issues and see victory through Jesus Christ. So, I ask that you pray for us as we continue with CR through step studies so that the men and women of this island can find freedom from their hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

I am also working with a few men about doing a men's conference here on the island. We are planning it for the beginning to middle of January. I feel the focus is going to be making men more alive in their walk with the Lord and to daily seek what the Lord has planned for them for that day. He has something for us everyday, not just on Sunday, but everyday.

We have also started a Pickleball club here in Roatan. This sport has really taken off. I was introduced to this sport in Alabama at our sending church and now someone wanted to start a club here and Lorenda and I wanted to be a part of it because we love this game. I believe this is also is a time we can make friendships and tell people about the Lord. We have had a pro coach here for the past few weeks training us to play the game. He will be leaving tomorrow, but will be back in January to see how things are going and to see how well we have progressed.

I am so thankful for each and everyone of you that have been praying for us and supporting us. We love you and all glory goes to God. We are just vessels being used by God. Thanks be to Him.
